Dana1981, Master of Science asked: “Scientists are to hold an emergency summit to warn the world’s politicians they are being too timid in their response to global warming.
Climate experts from across the world will gather in Copenhagen next month to agree a stark message to policy makers, which they hope will break the political deadlock on efforts to curb rising temperatures. The meeting follows “disturbing” studies that suggest global warming could strike harder and faster than expected.
Katherine Richardson, a marine biologist at the University of Copenhagen, who is organising next month’s event, said: “This is not a regular scientific conference. This is a deliberate attempt to influence policy.”

Now for all you conspiracy theorists out there, scientists have nothing to gain monetarily from such a summit. They already have no trouble getting research grants to study climate change, and influencing political policy at this point does not benefit them in any way.
What are your thoughts on this emergency summit?

Invisible asked: Or is that just a way to shut people up?
Cap & trade is going to be such a HUGE deal to our economy shouldn’t the causes of climate change be dealt with in an honest way?
Or would honesty wreck this money making scheme?

Owen asked: Hearing about climate change predictions is unavoidable, but after about 3 hours of looking on the internet, I haven’t been able to find a published model. Presumably, this would be a 1st law, controlled volume model, which addresses emmissivity, absorptivity, their relationship to greenhouse gases, and the methodology of measuring current mean earth temperature as well as future temperature change. Any published model would be nice though. For all the people talking about these models, I’d think someone would have published it somewhere obvious.
Any help is appreciated.

Fang asked: For the record, I believe in AGW.
I have no faith that humanity will be able to combat it because of who we actually are.
Have there been any studies on the odds of actually succeeding in combating climate change?
Are people wanting me to throw all my money on a horse that’s likely to finish in last place?
Well, at least one guy with multiple profiles answered this one twice, possibly three times.

Ben O asked: Proponents of human made climate change like to imply that intelligent people can see evidence and only fools cannot.
Doesn’t this seem very familiar like the childrens story of the emperor’s new clothes?
Pegminer - That kind of proves my point doesn’t it - only wise men can see the proof - if there was any to see.
You seem to have a bit of a hero complex yourself Pegminer - saving the world from destruction - you’re a regular Superman.

Steven TJ asked: They always said if the polar ice caps melt, areas like the Maldives, Bangladesh and Holland will be flooded.
However, did anyone notice that, if you put some ice into a cup and fill it with water to the brim, when the ice melts completely, the water does not overflow? Polar ice caps already displace the same volume of water they will be if they all melted. There will be no flooding and the islands will not be drowned. What kind of science does climate change promote?
